August Rush
Main Actor(s)/Actresses: Freddie Highmore, Keri Russell, and Jonathan Rhys Meyers
Memorable Supporting Cast: Robin Williams, Terrence Howard, Leon G. Thomas III, and Jamia Simone Nash
Plot: (Contains Spoiler) Lyla and Louis meet on a rooftop at a party and have a love affair. They try to reunite, but Lyla's father keeps them apart. Lyla becomes pregnant with Louis' child, but he doesn't know it. Lyla is told by her father that the baby died at birth, but her father put the boy, named Evan, in a home for boys. Evan knows his entire life that his parents are out there and he knows he will find them. So, he sets out to look for them by following the music - which is his passion. The musical prodigy ends up living with a group of musical boys being "hired out" by a manipulative man who changes Evan's name to August Rush. August develops his talent on his own and at Juilliard where he composes his own music which is to be performed in public. As it turns out it is at the same event where his mother, a concert strings player, is also performing. She finds out from her father on his death bed that her son is alive and on the night of the concert August, his mother, and his musician father are reunited.
Extra thoughts: August Rush is a good film. The plot is unlike other films. It holds your interest. There is some romance and a little action. It will make you appreciate those you love. The actors did a nice job in this movie, particularly the younger actors/actress. Although the music scenes were not exactly realistic, I would recommend this film.
