Cloverfield
Main Actor(s)/Actresses: Lizzy Caplan, Jessica Lucas, and T.J. Miller
Memorable Supporting Cast: Michael Stahl-David, Mike Vogel, and Odette Yustman
Plot: A video taping of a surprise going away party is rudely interrupted by an earthquake, which turns out to be a 30 story monster destroying New York City. Friends from the party are trying to get off of Long Island, but one wants to stay and save a girlfriend so others follow. The monster keeps getting in their way.
Extra thoughts: As Godzilla is for Japan, Cloverfield is the U.S. version. If you can get through the stupid first fifteen minutes it turns out to be a pretty good monster movie. Very good CGI. The story is okay and the acting is okay as well. There are some good plot twists throughout. Some things were noticeably missing from the movie being based in New York; no taxi cabs, no elderly people, no children, and people driving cars. It is a good horror flick and you will want to see it again. I say see it.
