The Battle of the Buldge
Main Actor(s)/Actresses: Henry Fonda, Robert Shaw, Telly Savalas, Charles Bronson
Memorable Supporting Cast: Robert Ryan, Ty Hardin
Plot: In December of 1944, just before Christmas, the Germans plan a surprise attack on a weak part of the Allied lines in the Arndense Forest with new tanks and troops. Disguised as Americans they parachute behind allied lines. They penetrate deep into the lines. This is called the Battle of the Buldge.
Extra thoughts: This movie paints the battle in broad strokes and does not give you a sense of the time line over which the battle takes place. It gives you the sense it happened over a matter of days rather than the weeks that it actually took. It was “hollywooded” up too. I recommend you see it for historic reasons. If you have no idea what happened then.
Director: Ken Annakin
Year released: 1965
