Plot: Lt. John Dunbar is sent to guard an U.S. outpost from the Sioux Indians. Alone and in a desolate land he befriends a wolf and the very people he is guarding against, the Sioux. He is able to learn their language through the help of a white woman within in the tribe, Stands with Fist (McDonnell). His life is a struggle, but he learns to adapt. As the U.S. Army comes to the land Dunbar has a choice to make that will change his life and the lives of his new found friends.
Extra thoughts: This film is 181 minutes (3 hours) long. Although it is a long movie, it is a good one.
