Das Boot (The Boat) See It

Main Actor(s)/Actresses:  Jugen Prochnow as the captain

Memorable supporting cast: Herbert Grönemeyer, Klaus Wennemann

Plot: The German U-boats ruled the North Atlantic at the beginning of the war, but the allies start getting the upper hand.  You follow a German U-boat as it goes out into the Atlantic to sink allied shipping, but then summoned for new orders to go through the Straights of Gibraltar, an almost suicide mission.  You will have to watch it to see if they get out alive.

Extra thoughts: I think this is one of the most authentic World War II submarine movies of all time.  You have to see it, but hold you breath.

Director: Wolfgang Peterson

Year released: 1981

Rated: R

Stars: 4 out of 5
