Plot: Mel Gibson plays Lt. Col. Hal Moore of the 7th cavalry. He is in charge of the first use of helicopters in the Vietnam War Air Cavalry. As a student of history, he does not want to repeat General Custard’s last stand at Little Big Horn. The battle ground he is fighting on is in Vietnam and is named Landing Zone X-ray. The battle begins with the US and the North Vietnamese making strategic moves to gain the upper hand.
Extra thoughts: This is an exciting and eye-opening movie. I feel it is one of the better Vietnam war movies. It doesn’t have the dark over tones that the movie Platoon has. This movie shows that with war comes new innovations which change how they are fought. See it.
